Art Vocabulary Wall

Being consistent about teaching art vocabulary has always been a weakness of mine. This year I made sure to have a dedicated space in my room for vocabulary and I was sure to make it changeable. I created and printed out definitions of words commonly used in my room. Then I added a small bit of magnet to the back and pinned them onto the Word Wall with a tack. When we are doing a project that uses the word, I can easily remove it from the wall and stick it to my board next to the standards and example.

This has really helped me remember to mention the words and the kids are starting to catch on that the words change with each lesson and they read them on their own. Little steps, but I am getting better. PDFs of these are available in my TPT store and I will be adding more to the collection as time goes on. ^_^

Tiles Installation

SO proud of 5th grade's work on their legacy tiles! We drew on ceramic tiles with permanent markers, then dripped rubbing alcohol onto them. Simple as that! These tiles will be a backsplash around the water fountains. I am moving on from this school this year, but I hope their new teacher will carry on this tradition with 5th grade next year!

A Spooktacular Pumpkin Patch!

All students in grades k-3 made an oil pastel resist pumpkin to add to our pumpkin patch. There were WAY more than I anticipated, but I love this display!

Guild Gators Go to Japan!

...maybe not really. BUT we do have a lot of awesome artifacts from Japan in our art room for our Japanese art unit! Thanks so much to Mrs. Bray, our wonderful PE teacher for donating some of her items from her time teaching in Japan. Here's a few pictures from around the art room!

Summer Displays

It's always sad to pass back all the artwork. :( Just so we didn't have a bare art case, I set up a summer display that will *hopefully* inspire the kids to keep creating over the break.

I also chose a few works to stay in the display at the Board of Education. So proud of what they've accomplished!

4th grade Seahorses made from paper plates and tissue paper. These may be my favorite things from the whole year. The layers make them so interesting. :)

...and I want to keep this up forever...but the kids want their art back. :(
