All classes started their Chihuly based projects this week. So far, I am very happy with their hard work and positive attitudes! You can see the ideas for the projects here.
1st grade started their project by matching shapes and forms.
2nd grade began the first of their value paintings, adding the medium value first.
3rd grade sketched out ideas for the paintings they will start next week. Some students made very beautiful sketches! We also played a game matching Chihuly's paintings to the glass sculptures.
Every 4th grade class is doing a different plastic Chihuly sculpture. I was very proud of how seriously they took their work this week; my 4th graders were a little rambunctious before the holiday break. :/
5th grade practiced with modeling clay for their clay cylinder sculptures next week.
