Heartworks

Kindergarten texture hearts are always a favorite project! We use oil pastels and texture sheets to create a paper background showing implied texture. Then we used Crayola Model Magic on texture plates to create the hearts. Super simple one-day project, gorgeous results! 

A Spooktacular Pumpkin Patch!

All students in grades k-3 made an oil pastel resist pumpkin to add to our pumpkin patch. There were WAY more than I anticipated, but I love this display!

Monsters!

Everyone loved this lesson from Art Projects for Kids, simple monsters! This was a good refresher of warm and cool colors. We used neon oil pastels and watercolors. 

Fricken Love Bats

This lesson is from Easy, Peasy, and Fun. Art club made adorable bat artworks! I gave them die-cut bats and warm colored paints. We used sponge brushes to add texture and waited for them to dry. Then we saw our bats magically appear!

Autumn Leaves

4th grade did a fantastic job on these autumn leaves! We used chalk pastels and oil to blend, a technique I learn from the amazing Jennifer Alvarado. They could choose warm or cool colors, just to keep it nice and neat. Gorgeous!

Happy Holidays!

Normally, I don't do "holiday" projects. But I was feeling extra jolly this year. 

3rd grade created the gorgeous painted paper poinsettia collages.

4th grade marker-printed some ornaments then added them to our realistic tree branch designs done with oil pastel. 

5th grade practiced 1 and 2 point perspective to make these beautiful present collages/cards.

Now back to real projects...
